Design & Make It! for Key Stage 3
Design & Make It! for Key Stage 3 has been written by teachers to support pupils as they work through their Key Stage 3 course in D&T. It is designed to prepare pupils for their GCSE course by presenting material at an introductory level, for subsequent review and extension. There are colour textbooks for Food Technology, Textiles Technology and Product Design (which incorporates Resistant Materials, Graphic Products, Electronic Products and Systems and Control.)

Design & Make It! Key Stage 3 Assessment Resources give reliable judgments of pupils' levels of attainment at the end of Key Stage 3 by the use of structured 'design & make' assigments.

Design & Make It! for Key Stage 3 will help pupils to understand the clear connections between the areas that constitute D&T in the revised National Curriculum.

Each Key Stage 3 textbook has a flexible unit-based structure. The use of structured, as well as open-ended units ensures a balance between knowledge and understanding and designing and making. Each unit builds on the previous unit and provides a higher level of challenge. The units can be used as the basis for ready-made sequence of lessons, or as support for delivering knowledge and understanding within other tasks set by the teacher.

The Key Stage 3 textbooks are supported by accompanying Teacher Support Packs.

Key Stage 3 Assessment Resources are aimed at Year 9 but could be used with other year-groups. They can be used to provide a co-ordinated scheme of work across a D&T department. Each pack includes differentiated material to help both less and more able pupils achieve maximum success. These assessment resources can be used very effectively with On Target: D&T pupils' book.
