Benchmark Kits

The PM Benchmark Kit is an assessment tool which corresponds exactly to Book Banks for Guided Reading.
  • Includes Fiction and Non-fiction high quality texts that are interesting and exctiting to children
  • Helps you to ascertain what strategies children use effectively when reading and which they need to bring to their repetoires
Alphabet Starters and Blends

PM Alphabet Starters allow children to concentrate on one letter sound at a time. Theyan trace the tactile letters on the front of the books and then practise the sounds of the letters by naming the objects on each page.

Alphabet Blends build on these skills by teaching children to discriminate the onset from the rhyme.

Starters One and Two

PM Starters allow children in their first 6 months of school to practise accurate matching of written and spoken words. Each book focuses on two or more high frequency words that correspond to the NLS word list.The range of characters, themes and interests corresponds with children's experiences of the world around them.

Fiction

PM story books have been carefully structured and meticulously graded to provide gentle progression for reading success. PM books help your pupils succeed and foster a love of reading thanks to the attention they pay.

Non-fiction

PM non-fiction books are designed to stimulate reading through the presentation of high-interest subjects and topics children are familiar with and understand.The books are enhanced with stunning photography and detailed illustrations.

Traditional Tales and Plays

A collection of 30 well-known traditional tales with each book containing the tale in story form, followed by a play format. All parts are colour-coded to make it easy for pupils to identify their lines and help them understand playscript conventions.
Teacher's Guides
The PM Teacher's Guides are an invaluable tool to gaining the maximum benefit from PM Story Books, Non-fiction and Traditional Tales and Plays. It provides a structured Guided Reading lesson plan for each title and detailed advice on planning and assessment.

Online Activity Sheets

The Activity Sheets are designed to support the use of PM in the class, enabling pupils to practise a variety of word, sentence and text level skills with correlation charts that aid planning for the Literacy Hour.

PM Maths - New!

The colour banding system used in the PM series and Book Bands for Guided Reading is based on a widely accepted gradient of difficultly originally devised more than 25 years in New Zealand which makes it very easy for you to fill in any gaps within your reading resources.
